Richard Osman, the celebrated Thursday Murder Club author, has revealed his surprising connection to one of this series' The Traitors contestants.
Audiences are already hooked on the latest series of the popular BBC show, which premiered last week.
The 55-year-old bestselling crime writer is amongst the programme's avid fans - hosted by Claudia Winkleman - and has explained that he's acquainted with one of the series four participants, whom he believes could be the Secret Traitor.
Discussing the nation's intense fascination on a recent episode of The Rest is Entertainment, the BBC Two House of Games presenter said: "I think the Secret Traitor may be Harriet. I was delighted to see her in there."
Revealing their professional connection, he said: "Harriet is a million-selling author, like a real-deal big name crime author - and brilliant as well."
Commenting on the crime writer's limited appearances early on, he said: "She wasn't in the first episode much, I don't think I saw a single VT, and she's quite a compelling character. That's the first time I've seen in the non-celebrity version someone who I sort of know."
After three episodes of the new series, some viewers reckon the Secret Traitor has already inadvertently exposed their identity. In previous seasons, the format traditionally started with three contestants being selected as Traitors, challenged with staying undetected throughout the competition to secure victory, reports Wales Online.
However, this series throws in a curveball with the introduction of a fourth Secret Traitor, whose identity is kept under wraps even from the original trio of Traitors.
This enigmatic newcomer, cloaked in a crimson hooded garment, remains a mystery to viewers as well.
During a private moment last week, psychologist Ellie voiced her apprehensions, expressing her unease about being perceived as a "Secret Traitor".
In a confessional interview, she mused: "People will question whether you are sitting and watching as a kind of Secret Traitor.."
Her understanding of the role of a Secret Traitor raises eyebrows, considering the Faithfuls were not privy to this unexpected twist.
Just three episodes in, and already one Traitor has been unmasked and ousted. The unsuspecting Hugo found himself voted off after being double-crossed by fellow Traitor Stephen.
Claudia reprised her role as the show's quick-witted host, while the imposing Scottish fortress welcomed 22 new contestants. The episode not only revealed the identities of the three Traitors - Rachel, Stephen and Hugo - but also introduced a game-changing twist with a secret traitor, concealed even from viewers, donning a red cloak.
Despite the traitors losing some sway, they now find themselves united in their choice of victim. Following the thrilling finale of The Celebrity Traitors in November, where Alan Carr remarkably managed to persuade the remaining Faithfuls that he was one of them, anticipation for the forthcoming series is at a record high.
