Netflix has just dropped several seasons of what some fans hail as 'one of the greatest medical dramas ever'.

Subscribers to the streaming platform can now dive into nearly 100 episodes of the hit series, crafted by David Shore, the creative genius behind House and Sneaky Pete.

The Good Doctor stars Freddie Highmore, who not only acts but also penned and directed a few episodes, as Shaun Murphy. Shaun is a gifted young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who swaps his quiet country life to join the surgical team at the esteemed San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.

While his mentor, Dr. Aaron Glassman, champions his move, Shaun, having endured a troubled upbringing, finds it hard to form personal connections. However, Highmore's character carves out his place using his remarkable medical talent and intuition to save lives and challenge his colleagues' scepticism.

Although the series concluded with its seventh season, Netflix users can now binge-watch the first five seasons, whether they're revisiting the drama or discovering it for the first time.

To catch up on the sixth and seventh seasons, viewers will need an entertainment membership to the NOW streaming service, reports the Mirror.

But don't fret if you don't have a subscription to either platform. As of now, the first five seasons are also available on Channel 4.

While it didn't exactly win over critics due to its not-so-realistic portrayal of medical procedures, many fans hail it as a binge-worthy medical drama, with several noting its depiction of autism resonates with them personally.

After the initial episodes premiered in the USA, it quickly became the network's most-watched series in 21 years, knocking The Big Bang Theory off its perch.

One fan enthused: "The Good Doctor is one of the best medical series ever. I highly recommend this TV show."

Another chimed in: "An Inspiring and emotionally powerful Series! The Good Doctor is an absolute gem of a medical drama that deserves every bit of praise it gets. The story is both emotionally moving and intellectually engaging."

A third viewer commented: "What an amazing TV show. One of a kind. I just binged the second half of the whole series and have to say it's evolved very well. The first half I took slowly."

Another went so far as to say: "Today I finished watching the last season. A life changing series.

"A story of a doctor who learnt in life not to give up and face all challenges with high optimum affirmation and assertive moves. I loved the whole series so much.

"Highly recommended if you are losing hope in yourself, friends, family and life at large. Do watch."

One viewer confessed: "I cried while listening this series it's so emotional so touching.

"Bring you back to reality as we are not super heroes but simple human. Makes you appreciate your life way more."
