Whether it's for her Hannah Montana days, her successful solo career or her infamous wrecking ball antics, Miley Cyrus is a household name.
However, in a shocking revelation, it turns out that the Party in the USA singer isn't actually named Miley. Just like her alter ego in the TV show that catapulted her to fame, Miley isn't her birth name, as her mum Tish disclosed.
During an appearance on the Raven and Miranda Podcast, Tish spilled the beans that her superstar daughter was originally named Destiny Hope. The moniker 'Miley' started off as a nickname and simply stuck around.
"Billy Rae (Miley's father) came up with that," she shared with the podcast hosts. "She always smiled when she was little, so we would call her smiley Miley, and it just stuck", reports the Mirror.
Clearly fond of her nickname, Cyrus legally changed her name by deed poll in 2008.
Tish also unveiled the story behind the name of Miley's sister, Noah. She confessed to having fallen in love with the name after hearing it years ago.
She recalled: "I remember years and years and years ago, I don't even know who she was, but I remember seeing a girl called Noah Kelly, and I was like I have never heard that name for a girl, and I loved it!".
The naming tale of the third Cyrus sister, Brandi, also has an interesting backstory. According to Tish, the music manager and mother of five, Brandi was named after her favourite Eighties music video.
She revealed: "Remember the song Love in an Elevator, (in that video) there was a... hot video vixen... called Brandi Brandt - and I loved it."
Just like the show's hosts, fans were left gobsmacked by the revelation about the origins of the Cyrus girls' names.
One fan confessed: "Today years old when I found out Miley is her stage name."
Another chimed in, admitting they "never believed Miley's real name was Destiny" until now.
Many followers were quick to commend Tish on her unique naming choices, with one commenting "not bad names honestly. They're creative but manage to not be bad."
Another fan couldn't help but gush over Tish, saying "Tish is my favourite celebrity mama! You can tell she's got sooo much warmth to her! Also, it's hard not to see Miley's face in her mum!".
