Kate Garraway, the lead news anchor on Good Morning Britain, has assumed extra duties following ITV's sweeping daytime television budget cuts.
Last May, insiders branded ITV's financial reductions impacting flagship shows including Lorraine and Loose Women as a 'bloodbath' when the broadcaster's reorganisation plans became public.
The 58-year-old Celebrity Traitors star was recently spotted delivering London news bulletins as remaining personnel adjust to their new responsibilities. A viewer posted a video on X, previously Twitter, of the mother-of-two in a navy velour dress, noting: "Edit showing Kate back at the main desk right after the London bulletin."
Last year's revelation of ITV's schedule shake-up left viewers stunned. The reorganisation at ITV Studios has allegedly led to over 220 job losses, accounting for nearly half of the roughly 440 employees working on these programmes.
Lorraine has undergone the most substantial transformation, reduced from 60 minutes to merely 30 minutes and scaled back to 30 weeks each year, down from 52, reports Wales Online.
Loose Women will retain its current structure but will similarly be trimmed to 30 weeks annually. This Morning remains unchanged regarding length and frequency, whilst Good Morning Britain has been lengthened by 30 minutes, now airing from 6am to 9:30am.
The most dramatic changes affect Lorraine, which has been slashed from an hour to merely 30 minutes and will air for just 30 weeks each year, down from the previous 52.
The Scottish presenter's shortened show sparked mixed reactions from audiences today, with some wondering: "What's the point?" as it aired. After Lorraine had covered the programme's agenda, along with advert breaks, there was precious little time left for substantial interviews.
However, when discussing the show's shake-up, the seasoned broadcaster merely said: "It's all good" as she pressed on with the programme, which maintains a loyal fanbase.
Meanwhile, GMB has been expanded and kicked off explosively today with a heated on-air clash.
During a tense moment, host Susanna Reid interrupted Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who had come on to address whether the party would 'strike a deal' with Reform and how it might reverse Labour's latest policies.
After quizzing Ms Badenoch about reversing the two-child benefit cap, Susanna then asked: "Would you keep the increase in employers' national insurance or would you cut that?" Ms Badenoch replied somewhat vaguely: "So you're asking lots of questions.."
A clearly frustrated Susanna swiftly interrupted her, saying: "Yes because the Prime Minister says we need to know what you would you do as an alternative!" The politician fired back: "We wouldn't have done this in the first place. What we're asking now is how much of Labour's mess are we going to have to clean up?".
