Streaming giant Disney Plus is a treasure trove of classic films, documentaries and TV series that families can delve into over the festive season.

The platform is a hub for all things Marvel and National Geographic, and it also showcases some fantastic Disney+ Originals such as Andor, The Mandalorian and Loki.

As families gear up to hunker down for the Christmas break and immerse themselves in the festive spirit, they're eager to discover which classics and masterpiece films are on offer on the platform.

There's a vast array of festive favourites, from The Grinch to the newly-released Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol.

Here's everything you need to know about just some of the films available on Disney Plus UK, reports the Express.

Home Alone

Home Alone

Devotees of the franchise will be overjoyed to learn that the entire collection of films is available to watch on Disney Plus, including the 1990 classic.

Macaulay Culkin's Christmas comedy catapulted him to child stardom, and it held the title of the highest-grossing live-action comedy for two decades.

The film is widely regarded as one of the best Christmas films and in 2023, it was chosen for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Taking to IMDb reviews to share their opinions, MovieAddict2016 praised it as a "heartwarming holiday family classic", adding: "All in all, Home Alone is probably the best Christmas movie to rise out of the film industry in the last twenty years.

"It seamlessly blends humor, pain, emotion, human instinct and some great booby-traps all into one little bundle. This film has stood the test of time greatly."

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

An unconventional Christmas favourite, The Chronicles of Narnia has been hailed as an "incredible" fantasy epic even two decades after its debut.

Based on the 1950 novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the film garnered numerous award nominations upon its original release.

The tale centres on four British youngsters evacuated during the Blitz to a rural manor, where they discover a wardrobe that serves as a portal to Narnia's magical realm. There, they join forces with the lion Aslan (voiced by Liam Neeson) to battle Jadis, the White Witch (Tilda Swinton).

IMDb reviewer zoe-girl-32 praised it as "an incredible story of love, forgiveness, bravery and sacrifice", noting: "One might expect a silly story about kids who talk to animals and fairies and learn lessons and stuff like that, but the story is so much more intricate and spectacular.

"More than just a 'good story', it's a one-of-a-kind adventure. I give this movie ten."

A Very Jonas Christmas Movie

Launching in November 2025, this Christmas musical comedy features The Jonas Brothers - Kevin, Joe and Nick, alongside Will Ferrell in a memorable cameo appearance.

Critics have responded favourably to the film, which chronicles the siblings following their European tour in London as they squabble over their respective positions in the group. Father Christmas, who doesn't want to see them go their separate ways, places a spell on them, which means they're unable to head home until they've sorted out their problems.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film boasts a 92% approval rating, with viewers heaping praise on the music and laughs.

Vii F commented: "Very entertaining, funny and full of catchy songs! A must see for the entire family! It made us love the Jonas brothers even more!".

Freakier Friday

A much-awaited sequel to the 2003 film, Freakier Friday hit cinemas in the summer of 2025 and witnessed the spectacular comeback of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.

The follow-up is set 22 years after the original body-swapping mayhem, with a grown-up Anna Coleman (Lohan) now working as a music producer whilst bringing up her teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters).

Curtis and Lohan even revealed during the film's promotional campaign that they'd be keen to create another sequel, hinting it might happen "sooner" than waiting another two decades.

Writing on IMDb reviews, darknightly awarded it a perfect 10 out of 10, stating: "Being an absolute fan of the original film remake in 2003, I had high hopes for the sequel.

"I'm delighted to say that it exceeded expectations. This marks Lindsay Lohan's major return and she absolutely sparkles in this part. She's brilliant at physical comedy and possesses the comedic talent to carry it off. Jamie Lee Curtis herself is like a big kid and she effortlessly plays the role of Tess and Lily.

"I'm confident this movie has rewatch potential and it will be a comfort movie for many in the years to come."

Zootropolis

The sequel to Zootropolis, also known as Zootopia, was released in November 2025 and quickly became a global sensation, raking in $1 billion worldwide just 17 days after its premiere.

Upon reaching this impressive milestone, the film set a new record as the fastest PG-rated film to achieve such success. It is only the second Hollywood film to hit $1 billion this year, trailing behind the Chinese film Ne Zha 2.

While the sequel continues to play in cinemas, the original film, which debuted in 2016, can be streamed on Disney Plus.

The family-friendly film tells the story of Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), a rookie rabbit police officer, and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a sly fox con artist, as they join forces to solve a conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators.

On IMDb, user emmabarclay-61012 awarded the film a perfect score of 10 out of 10, praising it as "next level funny" and stating: "Zootopia leaves all other Disney 3D animations in the dust. The plot, characters, styling, quality of animation and script are so spot on.

"I could watch this film a thousand times and not grow bored. If you haven't seen it, stop what you are doing and watch it."
