This year's series of BBC's The Traitors has gripped viewers even more intensely thanks to the introduction of a 'secret traitor' that has left the nation speculating about their true identity. The latest run of the BBC programme launched on New Year's Day and has sent the country into overdrive trying to work out who the mystery traitor could be.
Devoted viewers have gone so far as to create spreadsheets tracking which contestants are genuine "true faithful's" players and which ones remain under suspicion. One enthusiast took things a step further by consulting ChatGPT for its verdict on the secret traitor's identity - and many believe the AI's analysis is remarkably accurate.
ChatGPT is a sophisticated AI chatbot developed by OpenAI that features technology capable of understanding and producing text that resembles human communication. It has the ability to respond to queries, compose poetry, and assist users in exploring concepts.
The user, identified only as @relatable202512, posed the question to the chatbot: "who do you think it [the secret traitor] is?". The AI replied: "Purely my own guess (not a spoiler or confirmed): I think the Secret Traitor is Sam.
"Here's why people (including me) lean that way; Edit clues: Sam often gets reaction shots at key moments that don't quite line up with what's being discussed, which is classic Traitors editing", reports the Mirror.

"They've avoided suspicion danger in ways that feel slightly engineered rather than lucky, The show seems to push suspicion toward louder players, while Sam stays quietly influential."
The AI then discussed "cloak logic", suggesting the hidden traitor requires someone "calm, observant, and trusted" - characteristics that Sam possesses more than most. It also explained how television producers enjoy deploying red herrings.
The chatbot explained: "Editors love this trick. A player reacts strongly to info they shouldn't care about yet, cutaways linger on them during Traitor discussions, micro-smiles when chaos erupts... those moments often pay off later in a reveal montage."
ChatGPT also offered the viewer guidance on what to watch for during broadcasts. It advised: "Watch who the camera returns to when the cloaks is mentioned, who is framed alone, in shadows, or separated visually from the group and who gets ominous music without explanation."
It also referenced the "late focus" test, where a participant remains understated initially but receives significantly more screen time two or three episodes before the secret traitor's identity is unveiled.
ChatGPT observed: "Sam feels edited as someone whose story is being delayed, not ignored. That's classic "reveal later" energy."
The viewer responded: "That's true. He's blending which people have noticed, maybe that's why."
Other viewers believed ChatGPT's prediction was accurate, whilst others remained sceptical. One user commented: "I've said it's Sam since the very first episode."
Another remarked: "I've said Sam or Ellie from the first episode. Can't wait to find out!".
A third declared: "I'm locked in with Sam...must be him!".
