Big Bang Theory star's dark thriller set for release but UK fans must wait

Kaley Cuoco's new mystery thriller Vanished will arrive on Prime Video UK nearly a month after its US debut, but fans can binge all four episodes at once

The Big Bang Theory favourite Kaley Cuoco's sinister new drama has unveiled a spine-tingling first glimpse ahead of its debut next year.

All four episodes of the fresh mystery thriller will be dropping on Prime Video in the UK on Friday, 27th February.

Featuring Cuoco alongside The Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin, the programme chronicles a couple's Parisian getaway that transforms into something deeply unsettling.

A brief plot summary for the programme states: "When a couple's trip to Paris takes a dark turn with the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend Tom (Claflin) aboard a train to the south of France, Alice (Cuoco) is plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew."

This marks Cuoco's most recent major venture following The Big Bang Theory's conclusion after its 12th series. She has subsequently appeared in The Flight Attendant, Based on a True Story, and the action-comedy picture Role Play, reports the Express.

The ensemble also features Karin Viard (Polisse), Matthias Schweighöfer (Oppenheimer), Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) and Dar Zuzovsky (The Saints).

Preview images unveiled this week show Cuoco as Alice, looking troubled whilst wearing a plain tan jacket with a Parisian street scene behind her.

Additional shots from the programme show Alice and Tom during various fraught moments, including a romantic scene on a bridge or balcony and appearing distraught in a construction site or warehouse. Cuoco's character Alice appears somewhat battered and bruised, suggesting some physical confrontations in addition to the unfolding mystery.

We also catch a glimpse of the couple sharing a passionate seaside smooch, presumably before Tom's sudden disappearance throws their world into chaos.

Vanished was shot in Marseille and Paris, brought to life by creators David Hilton and Preston Thompson.

The series was directed by Barnaby Thompson, known for his work on Pixie and the St Trinians films.

In addition to its UK premiere at the end of February, some regions can anticipate an earlier release.

Viewers in the US, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Latin America will have the chance to tune in almost a month early, with Vanished premiering there on Sunday, 1st February on MGM+.

However, this will be as a weekly episodic release, while viewers tuning in on Prime Video in the UK, as well as Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, will have the luxury of binging the entire series.

Vanished is set to premiere on Friday, 27th February on Prime Video.
